2 beaches suitable for dogs in Lanzarote

Animals use to like the beach like humans. Dogs for istance love to run on the sand and have a dip.  Nowadays in Lanzarote there are two beaches for dogs: one has reduced opening timings while the other one not.

Playa de las Coloradas

Playa de Las Coloradas or Playa El Afre is in the municipality of Yaiza, in the south of the island.

The beach is of 400 meters and  150 meters are dedicated to the dogs. It’s a sandy, gravel  beach and its waters are calm and clean.

This beach does not offer a lot of services but at the same time it’s possible for dogs and humans to enjoy the free time there.

The opening times are from 07:00 to 10:00 hrs in the mornings and from 19:00 to 21:00 hrs in the afternoon.

There are few simple rules. It’s not allowed to feed the dogs on the beach, it’s mandatory to respect the others, it’s mandatory to collect feaces and the dog should have documents. Dogs belonging to potencial dangerous breed (PPP) should  be tied and muzzled.

Playa de Guacimeta

The second beach for dogs is Lanzarote is  Playa de Guacimeta. It’s close to Lanzarote Airport, in Playa Honda, belonging to San Bartolomé.

It’s a beach with toasted sand and calm waters, a perfect place for dogs and owners. It offers many terraces and services, ideal for a perfect day by the beach.

165 metros of the beach, are for dogs, without time limits. As for the other beach, there are few rules to respect.

Dogs belongings to potencial dangerous breed PPP should be tied and muzzled, for security reasons. On the other side every dog has to wear a belt when they are not inside the water.

The owner should control the dog so that it won’t disturb the others. The owner is responsible to collect feaces and put it in the proper bin.
