Where is Playa Blanca?

This area is in the south of the island of Lanzarote  and it’s one of the most important touristic centers of the islands. From there it’s possible to see the island of Fuerteventura and Lobos islet.

In Playa Blanca the highest temperatures of Lanzarote are recorded. For this reason, many local people choose to spend their vacations there.

A very important touristic enclave

In the past it use to be a small fishing village but then the influence of the tourism, changed the situation and nowadays there are wonderful infrastructures.

In the zone of Playa Blanca there are many options in terms of accomodation: it’s possible to find a lot of flats with the typical architecture or 4/5 stars hotels. There is also a big variety of bars and restaurant.

Of course there are also places designed for leisure and sports, and nightlife in bars and discos.

The promenade in Playa Blanca is a perfect place where you can go for shopping, meeting people, drinking something or just to have a walk.

Leisure port Marina Rubicón

Marina Rubicón is a leisure port, it has a nice infrastructure and it offers different options to practice water sports or boat tours.

In this area you can find also bowling alleys, sports courts, restaurants and many terraces open until late at night.

Here it takes place also the famous market of Marina Rubicon, twice per week.

 

Beaches that you should necessarily see

In the 8 kilometers of coast we can find also some of the most interesting beaches of Lanzarote.

The ones closest to Playa Blanca are: Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo. These beaches are easy to reach and they are famous for their white sand.

Playa Papagayo is more isolated but you should see it. It is composed by different coves.

As alternative to the beaches, we can mention Los Charcones, it’s a mix of impressive natural swimming pools. To reach the charcones is not easy at all, so if you are travelling with children or people with reduced mobility, it is not the best option.
