The Gran Canaria Carnival 2025 promises to be a vibrant and diverse celebration, with different municipalities across the island adopting unique themes for their festivities. Today, on the First Minute Excursions and Last Minute Transfer blog, we talk about some of the themed carnival celebrations in Gran Canaria this year.
Themed Carnival Celebrations in Gran Canaria
Across the island, different carnival festivities are organized. To make them even more special, each one has its own unique theme.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: “The Olympic Games”
From February 8 to March 16, the capital of Gran Canaria celebrates its carnival under the theme of “The Olympic Games.”
Santa Catalina Park will be the epicenter of the festivities, hosting over thirty events, including galas, contests, and concerts.
Among the highlights are the Drag Queen Gala on March 7 and the Grand Parade on March 15. Carnival nights will run from February 28 to March 15, featuring different areas designated for various musical styles and activities.
Agüimes: “The World of Video Games”
The municipality of Agüimes will immerse itself in “The World of Video Games” on February 22. Attendees will enjoy parades and events inspired by iconic video game characters and settings, fostering creativity and community participation.
Costa de Mogán: “Mount Olympus”
From February 27 to March 2, the Costa de Mogán Carnival will be themed around “Mount Olympus”, celebrating Greek mythology. During these days, the municipality will be filled with representations of gods, goddesses, and mythological beings, with events including parades, contests, and musical performances.
Gáldar: “Ancient Egypt”
On March 1, Gáldar will transport its participants to “Ancient Egypt”. The streets will be filled with pharaohs, gods, and Egyptian symbols, featuring parades and activities that celebrate this rich historical civilization.
Other Themed Carnival Celebrations in Gran Canaria
In addition to the previously mentioned events, there are other themed carnival celebrations across the island worth discovering:
- Ingenio: “Outer Space”, on March 5
- Vecindario: “Beautiful Mexico”, on March 22
- Telde: “Manga”, on March 22
- Maspalomas: “Love à la Mexicana”, on March 29
- Carrizal: “The Roaring Twenties”, on April 5
